Embossed Flowers

A card today which uses an embossing folder and Distress Inks to achieve the design.

I embossed a piece of coconut white card using the Couture Creations embossing folder and highlighted the different areas using Distress Inks.

I embossed a second piece of card so that I could layer up some of the flowers.

I added a sentiment in the centre to finish.

This idea could be adapted to lots of different embossing folder designs.

A Crown from the Palace

One more sample from my weekend at Alexandra Palace recently.

This hanging ornament was made using one of the Pronty MDF crowns (you get 6 in a pack). Luckily for me, Sam had her crop-a-dile hole punch with her so I was able to punch a couple of holes in the MDF to later add the ribbon. (As explained previously, I didn't take any crafting tools with me as I wasn't expecting to demonstrate but the Creative Expressions gang were all so lovely and helped me out with bits and pieces).

I painted the crown plus the two Art Parts (the star and the LOVE) using the Cosmic Shimmer Chalk Paints. I then stenciled through the Sunburst Mask from That Special Touch, using the Cosmic Shimmer Sparkle Texture Paste. I added a vintage silver button embellishment from Creative Expressions and a paper heart with the word Joy on it. I didn't have any adhesive foam to raise the heart up, so I edged it with some Distress Ink to make it stand out a bit.

Ally Pally Tag

Here is another sample I made at Alexandra Palace recently, using the Cosmic Shimmer Matt Chalk Paints and Glazes, on MDF.

The tag is part of the Pronty A5 Love Set. I kept the letters to use on a separate project and painted just the tag. The flower is an Art Part from the Studio 490 Wildflowers set. There are co-ordinating stamps available but I just painted the flower using the Matt Chalk Paints and then stenciled contrasting colours of the paint through various masks to add interest.

The words came from a piece of 12" x 12" paper being sold on the Creative Expressions stand. I edged these with a bit of Distress Ink to make them stand out a bit. As I explained in my previous post, I had no notice that I would be demonstrating so was very limited what I could find to use. For example, we had sentiment stamps available on the stand but no acrylic blocks. However, I had a really enjoyable time having to think about things from a different angle and people were very interested in the Chalk Paints.

Cosmic Shimmer Crackle Glaze was added to the bottom corner for texture.

I stenciled paint through the Chevrons mask and added some ribbon. To finish, I added a bit of Distress Ink around the edges of the tag.

Ally Pally Frame

Happy Easter to you all! Hope you have been enjoying the long Easter weekend in whatever way you choose.

Apologies for having gone "missing" for a few weeks. Have been very busy in the run up to the Big Stamp and Scrapbooking Show at Alexandra Palace last weekend. I worked 11 days in a row so just collapsed on Good Friday. Can't believe where the weekend has gone and it's back to work again tomorrow!

I thought I would show you an MDF photo frame I decorated at Ally Pally.

I had arranged to work on the Creative Expressions stand for the weekend but not as a demonstrator. However, we had two of our demonstrators who were unable to make it (Kim is recovering from an operation and Suzie was very poorly too - I know Kim is making good progress now and I hope Suzie is on the mend too). This meant that I hadn't done any prep. I had no samples with me and only a pair of scissors in my bag! However, everyone was very kind. Julia suggested I obtain a blending mat from Ali Reeve (thanks Ali), and Sam had a spare water pot, so I grabbed what I could from the stand and demonstrated the new Cosmic Shimmer Matt Chalk Paints with some MDF pieces and That Special Touch Masks.

This is the Pronty Baroque Square Frame available from Creative Expressions. The masks I used on the corners were Sunburst and Rosette. I added a couple of Small Dazzlers, some ribbons, and some die-cut pieces (which I also painted using the Matt Chalk Paints). I added the new Cosmic Shimmer Pearl Glaze to the lock and key to make it look more metallic. Matt Chalk Paints were used on the frame itself and sponged through the masks. I finished the frame off by rubbing some Creative Expressions Metallic Gilding Wax around the outside edge of the frame.
