Sunshine Card in a Box

A quick and easy project which is a bit different.

The "box" pushes flat for posting but is very 3-dimensional once opened.

The base of the card was made using milk coloured card. The embossed panels were cut from custard card and then embossed using the Spellbinder M-Bossabilities Folder called Mystic. The embossing was highlighted using Dried Marigold and Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink Pads.

The flowers are from the Kit 'n' Kraft Sequin Flower Brads pack. The little leaves were die cut using the Spellbinder die set Little Leaf Sets.

The front panel was edged using Spiced Marmalade Distress Stickles and a sentiment was added from the Creative Expressions "Everyday Expressions" A5 stamp set. The sentiment was die cut using the JustRite die set Antique Tags One.

The panels were trimmed using ribbon from the Kit 'n' Kraft Ribbon Pack.

Seaside Fun

Today's card features some of the beautiful seaside stamps from Creative Expressions ("Treasure Seeker", "Sandcastle in the Sun" and "Beauty and the Beach"). I coloured in the children and the bunting using Cosmic Shimmer Watercolour Paints Set 3 (Brights). For the skin I used Cosmic Shimmer Matt Skin Tones Drawings Inks.

I coloured the sandcastle and sand using Scattered Straw Distress Ink and a water brush.

I used the Scattered Straw Ink Pad again, with Broken China Distress Ink, to blend around the edges of the image.

The bunting was made using the Spellbinder Die Set called Banner Basic One.

The sentiment was die cut using the JustRite Die Set Antique Tags One.

The "sunglasses" are a Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 embellishment ("Reading Glasses") which I painted using Cosmic Shimmer Blueberry Crush Shimmer Paint.

The card base was made into an easel card using teal card. The spearmint coloured panel on the base was embossed using the Spellbinder M-Bossabilities folder called Mystic.

I finished the card off with a few self-adhesive pearls.

Cupcakes anyone?

Not a card today, but a kitchen apron to show you which I decorated using my Cricut cutting machine.

It doesn't matter which Cricut cutting machine you use. I chose my designs from a Cricut cartridge I have. There are also single images available to purchase online now (some are free!).

Instead of using card on my cutting mat, I used the iron-on vinyl which Cricut sell. There are lots of colours available, including some glitter colours.

I used a light grey, red, glitter pink and glitter black. The cartridge and machine allow you to cut the different layers in the different colours and then you iron them onto the project (using a cloth between the iron and the vinyl so it doesn't melt onto the iron).

I didn't have an image for the stand so I found the part which looks like a curly J and flipped this as well, to form the base and the top. The shelves were just thin strips cut on my guillotine.

A quick card for a Teenager

This was a card I made last minute for a friend of my son (you know how it goes, the night before, "Mum, it's x's birthday tomorrow, have you got a card I can send?").

It uses just two shades of Ink to stamp with, co-ordinating card and a white card base.

The stamps come from the Creative Expressions A5 Stamp Plates designed by Sam Poole, called Urban Beats and Urban Life.

Workshop at Creative Expressions

Exciting news!

I will be holding a workshop at Creative Expressions in Kettering, on Wednesday 4th June (10am to 12.30pm).

We will be making the following three dimensional piece, using MDF, Cosmic Shimmer Matt Chalk Paints and some pretty dies and papers.

It is a chance to try the new Matt Chalk Paints and maybe some other items that you may not have used before, in a fun and relaxed environment.

If you would like any more information or to book a place, please telephone me at Creative Expressions, on 01536 481778. The cost is £15.
